It’s no secret that Coca-Cola has got distribution channels out the wazoo. In fact, you can buy a Coke practically anywhere in developing countries, however, “in those same places up to 1 in 5 children die before their 5th birthday from simple preventable [disease].” ColaLife is working in conjunction with Coca-Cola to package medicines along with the beverages in order to distribute them more effectively to those in need.
The first medicines will be to treat dehydration from diarrhea, the second cause of death to children throughout developing Africa. They are fairly simple mixtures of sugars and salts, which can withstand temperature fluctuations (unlike medicines for malaria).
We always love it when corporations use their resources for good, so we’re really impressed by this effort. Find out more about the initiative on their website.
