In.gredients is a brand new type of grocery store set to open its doors in Austin, Texas sometime this year (pending funding). The idea is to offer a zero-waste experience by ditching food packaging whenever possible. The hope is that customers will bring their own reusable jars and containers and fill them up in the store with the exact amount of a product they need. Then, when the supply runs out, shoppers can return to In.gredients with their jars and containers to fill them again. The company touts several other admirable goals: sourcing local, organic food, providing the community with an education about food products and waste, and giving back to charity. All in all, the idea for the store sounds great. We’ll have to wait and see if it pans out as planned.

Hey Jo! They plan on opening their first store in Austin as long as they get the funding they need.
