Claiming to be “bionic” is pretty bold, but the truth is this stuff is pretty cool. Basically, it’s yarn and fabric made out of recycled plastic bottles (along with a mix of nylon, cotton, and polyester). The fibers are woven into a double helix for maximum strength and durability.
A company making use of these materials is Endstar. They have some pretty cool products–backpacks, T’s, and camping equipment. Word on the street is that Pharrell Williams is an avid supporter of bionic yarn, and uses one of Endstar’s sleeping bags while he’s on tour.
